Safaricom Welcomes Florence Nyokabi as Chief Human Resources Officer

Safaricom, Kenya’s leading telecommunications provider, has announced the appointment of Florence Nyokabi as its new Chief Human Resources Officer. Nyokabi joins Safaricom from Standard Chartered Bank, where she served as the Managing Director of Human Resources for Nigeria and West Africa, overseeing operations across six countries.

With over 25 years of progressive experience in HR leadership across local and global entities in Africa, Nyokabi is a recognized thought leader in the field. She has been honored as a Top 40 Under 40 Leader in Kenya and more recently as HR Personality of the Year in Africa.

Nyokabi takes over the role from Paul Kasimu, who played a key role in implementing HR strategies, leadership and talent development, and employer branding at Safaricom until April 1st, 2024. Kasimu has transitioned to the role of HR Transformation and Change Advisor on a contract basis with the company.

In her new position, Nyokabi will oversee Talent Acquisition & Capability, Corporate Centers, Essential Services & Facilities, and Health, Safety & Wellness at Safaricom. She will play a pivotal role in driving the corporate culture, ensuring the company’s continued success and growth in the telecommunications industry.

Bringing a wealth of experience from her previous role at Standard Chartered Bank, Nyokabi’s appointment underscores Safaricom’s commitment to strengthening its HR leadership and strategic initiatives under her guidance. Her extensive expertise and leadership in HR management are poised to contribute significantly to Safaricom’s continued evolution and success in the telecommunications sector.
