Progyny introduces pelvic floor therapy to strengthen women’s health support

“This is another moment when Progyny is stepping up to help women identify and seek care for basic health needs that are going undiagnosed and untreated due to lack of education, lack of care access, and lack of the right benefits coverage,” said Dr. Janet Choi, Progyny Chief Medical Officer.

In a move aimed at improving women’s access to specialized care, Progyny, Inc. (Nasdaq: PGNY) has added pelvic floor therapy to its comprehensive suite of women’s health and family building solutions. This latest expansion marks a strategic step forward in addressing health concerns that impact nearly one in three women throughout different stages of life.

The addition responds to a long-standing need. While pelvic floor disorders are often associated with postpartum recovery, they can affect women beginning in young adulthood and persist through menopause and later years. Without treatment, symptoms like pelvic pain and incontinence can interfere with quality of life, disrupt work performance, and lead to further medical complications, including infertility. One in five women with a pelvic floor disorder may ultimately require surgery, according to University of Chicago Medicine.

“This is another moment when Progyny is stepping up to help women identify and seek care for basic health needs that are going undiagnosed and untreated due to lack of education, lack of care access, and lack of the right benefits coverage,” said Dr. Janet Choi, Progyny Chief Medical Officer. “By enabling access to specialty trained providers and offering educational support tools through a cost effective and comprehensive benefit, we are providing impactful clinical solutions as opposed to a ‘sweep it under the rug’ approach to women’s health.”

Members enrolled in Progyny’s benefits plan will now have access to both virtual and in-person treatment options for pelvic floor therapy. The goal is to enable earlier interventions and reduce delays in care, which often lead to more invasive procedures and higher healthcare costs. Urinary incontinence alone has been linked to an annual burden of $20 billion in healthcare spending, according to the NIH.

Progyny’s expanded offering includes partnerships with Origin and Hinge Health. Through Origin, members gain access to a nationwide network of pelvic floor physical therapy providers. Origin offers evidence-based care for a wide range of pelvic health concerns, such as leaky bladder, painful sex, postpartum recovery, endometriosis, PCOS, chronic pelvic pain, and hysterectomy recovery.

“Origin has been leading the way in destigmatizing the shame that still exists around the biggest milestones in women’s lives and working to make pelvic floor therapy part of the standard of care,” said Carine Carmy, CEO & Co-Founder, Origin. “Whether it’s postpartum recovery or painful sex in menopause, our goal is to make personalized, whole-body care accessible to women wherever they are in their health journey.”

Hinge Health will provide a complementary digital solution, offering personalized care plans supported by physical therapists who specialize in both pelvic health and musculoskeletal (MSK) care. These plans feature guided exercises that target symptoms such as pelvic pain, bladder control issues, and menopause-related challenges. Regular engagement encourages sustainable health habits and symptom relief.

“By combining expert clinical care and advanced technology, we are removing barriers to care access and enabling individuals to experience better health outcomes,” said Aaryn Pure, Chief Commercial Officer, Hinge Health. “Our comprehensive pelvic health program, now offered in conjunction with Progyny, will bring their members high-quality pelvic health support as part of their broader women’s health experience.”

With this latest update, Progyny is taking another step toward ensuring that women have access to proactive, effective healthcare at every stage of life, from preconception and maternal health to midlife and menopause.
