The research platform Populix announced the successful initial closure of its Series B funding round, securing US$4.3 million to drive the next phase of its AI-powered innovation.

Populix is an Indonesian tech-enabled research platform that provides comprehensive market and social research solutions. It connects businesses, institutions, and researchers with targeted respondent panels across Indonesia to collect high-quality data efficiently. Using both online and face-to-face approaches, Populix leverages technology to simplify data collection and analysis, enabling informed decision-making for clients.

Populix’s recent Series B funding round, which raised $4.3 million, was led by MSW V Asia Fund X (MSW Ventures) and saw continued support from existing investors Intudo Ventures, Altos Ventures, and Acrew Capital. This funding reflects the confidence of these investors in Populix’s vision and growth potential, particularly in the challenging economic climate.

Research on AI acceleration

Populix hopes that this new capital will:

  • Develop and train AI models further to automate research processes and provide more precise and timely insights.
  • Invest in machine learning systems to create synthetic respondents — virtual personas designed to mimic human behavior and expedite data collection processes.
  • Enhance its standing as a technologically advanced research platform that aids companies and decision-makers in implementing AI-based research techniques.

Increasing regional coverage

Co-founder and CEO Dr. Timothy Astandu shared that the funding reinforces Populix’s commitment to innovation and expansion, stating:

“This funding encourages us to continue reinforcing our business fundamentals by developing services and leveraging technology to innovate in the future. In addition, Populix also aspires to expand its market to Southeast Asia based on strong demand from current clients.”

Southeast Asia from Indonesia

Populix has increased its offers and reach since its 2022 Series A investment.  It started Policy & Society Research in 2023, which helps governments and organisations evaluate socioeconomic trends, public opinion, and the efficacy of policies.

NeXa, the company’s flagship invention, is an AI-powered research assistant that expedites the entire research process, from creating the questionnaire to analysing the responses and drawing conclusions.

Currently providing both full-service and self-service research tools, Populix links businesses, organisations, and people to a variety of high-quality respondent pools throughout Indonesia.

Quick expansion and high client retention

In the last 12 months, Populix has revealed:

  • 200% growth in research projects
  • 65 percent of projects come from repeat customers
  • Entering new industries including government and telecommunications

Populix is dedicated to using AI to make research more impactful, intelligent, and accessible as it expands throughout Southeast Asia.

Jeffrey Seah, founder and General Partner of MSW Ventures, added: “By closing the decision lag between insight and action, Populix fuses the depth of traditional research with the immediacy of synthetic data and agentic AI—delivering strategic advantages with unprecedented speed, accuracy, and actionability. This enables the company to scale its offering across the region and drive the next wave of innovation in the market research sector.”
