Organon, a global healthcare leader focused on women’s health, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) to enhance family planning services and improve women’s health across Egypt. This collaboration follows the recent Global Congress on Population, Health, and Human Development (PHDC’24), which was held in Egypt. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Tarek Abou ElEinein, Organon’s Egypt & Levant Country Lead, and Dr. Rasha Ziada, Assistant to the EDA Chairman for Professional Development and Capacity Building, with Dr. Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, also present at the event.

This agreement places a strong emphasis on training community pharmacists throughout Egypt. The aim is to raise awareness of family planning and provide pharmacists with the skills to offer effective counseling to individuals in their communities. This initiative is in line with the Egyptian government’s push to invest in human capital and promote the health and well-being of its population.

Organon is committed to delivering a comprehensive training programme, which will include both in-person and online sessions. Pharmacists will receive valuable resources, including training materials designed for use before and after the sessions. The training programme is set to kick off later this year and is expected to make a significant impact on how community pharmacists assist women with their reproductive health decisions.

Tarek Abou ElEinein of Organon commented on the partnership, saying, “Our partnership with the Egyptian Drug Authority is pivotal in enhancing the skills of community pharmacists across Egypt. By equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need, we empower them to better serve the public, ultimately contributing to a healthier society. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to advancing women’s health and ensuring that every woman has access to safe and effective family planning options.”
