NCC Bank empowers women entrepreneurs in Bogura with financial literacy and credit access

NCC Bank, in partnership with the Department of Youth Development (DYD), recently organised a three-day training program titled “Financial Literacy & Technical Skill Development for Women Empowerment” at the Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK) Auditorium in Bogura. The event aimed to empower 100 women entrepreneurs with essential financial and technical skills.

The training was attended by several prominent figures, including Md. Iqbal Mohsin, Director of the Financial Inclusion Department at Bangladesh Bank, A.K.M Mofizul Islam, Director of DYD, and Md. Tosaddek Hossain, Deputy Director of DYD. Other notable attendees included Nighat Mumtaz, SVP and Head of Women’s Banking & Deputy Head of the Financial Inclusion Cell at NCC Bank, along with various officials from the bank’s Head Office and Bogura Branch.

Shamsul Arefin, Managing Director and CEO of NCC Bank, highlighted the bank’s ongoing commitment to financial inclusion and financial literacy. He stated, “NCC Bank is working for the financial inclusion of the mass people across the country as well as ensuring Financial Literacy for all as per Bangladesh Bank guidelines under Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

He further explained that the training was designed to empower women in Bangladesh’s socio-economic landscape, fostering new women entrepreneurs, increasing their participation in the financial sector, and contributing to the national economy. Arefin added, “This training program would be helpful for improving their skills in business, with particular focus on financial management, such as obtaining loan facilities and more.”

The event also received a warm reception from local officials. Hosna Afroza, the District Commissioner & District Magistrate of Bogura, expressed her hope that the entrepreneurs participating in the course would grow into major business owners. She encouraged the entrepreneurs to make informed decisions about investments, highlighting the importance of creativity in their businesses. Afroza also stressed the environmental importance of reducing polythene use and promoting the adoption of organic fertilisers and bio-pesticides.

In closing, she commended both NCC Bank and DYD for their efforts in organising such an impactful training program. “I appreciate NCC Bank & DYD authorities for organising this type of training course,” she said, acknowledging the vital role these initiatives play in supporting women’s empowerment and sustainable development.
