In a notable development, Miss Universe Philippines 2023, Michelle Dee, has been named the newest ambassador for the Philippine Red Cross (PRC). The announcement was made during an event held at the GMA Network office on May 16.

Dee expressed her commitment to leveraging her platform for meaningful causes through her collaboration with PRC. She stated, “How to give back, how to use one’s platform for the right reasons — that is something I will do with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC). I love women empowerment, I love being part of the solution.”

The signing of the memorandum of understanding to formalize Dee’s role was attended by prominent figures including PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon, PRC Secretary General Gwen Pang, PRC Board of Governors member Jenni Munar, GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes, and GMA Sparkle Vice President Joy Marcelo.

For nearly three decades, PRC and GMA, through its Kapuso Foundation, have partnered to facilitate blood donation drives. However, Dee’s involvement with PRC is set to extend beyond these efforts. She pledged her support for PRC’s broader humanitarian initiatives, such as fundraising projects and disaster relief operations targeting remote and disadvantaged communities.

Richard Gordon thanked Dee for her willingness to use her influence to benefit PRC’s mission, while Gwen Pang commended her decision to support PRC’s efforts in alleviating suffering and providing essential services to vulnerable populations in the Philippines.
