Italian sportswear label Lotto has brought back tennis icon Sania Mirza as its brand ambassador while also naming her Chief Advisor for Women’s Sports, as the brand prepares for a renewed push in the Indian market.

The move comes as Agilitas Sports gears up to reintroduce Lotto in India, with plans to offer products across several categories.

Mirza’s new position extends beyond traditional brand promotion. In her advisory role, she will collaborate with the company on its women’s sportswear and athleisure direction, helping shape footwear and apparel choices as well as programmes aimed at building stronger engagement with female consumers and sporting communities.

“Sania represents what Lotto stands for—authenticity, confidence, and a way of engaging with sport that goes beyond results,” said Abhishek Ganguly, CEO of Agilitas Group. “She has always stood at the intersection of sport, culture, and community in India, shaping how a generation sees self-belief and individuality. This partnership reflects that shared philosophy.”

Reflecting on the partnership, Mirza said the association felt like a natural return. “Lotto believed in me at a time when I was still discovering my own voice as an athlete. Coming back now is not just about representing a brand, but about helping shape how women experience sport and movement today. This role allows me to contribute beyond the court, and that makes the partnership deeply meaningful,” she said.

Agilitas Sports, founded by former Puma executives, recently secured a 40-year licence for Lotto from WHP Global. The agreement gives Agilitas exclusive rights to design, manufacture, market, and distribute Lotto products in India and Australia, with expansion plans into South Africa. Under the deal, Agilitas will pay WHP Global a royalty linked to sales.

Lotto becomes the company’s first consumer brand as it aims to build a full sports platform spanning manufacturing, branding and retail. Agilitas has already established a dedicated facility in Noida and intends to roll out footwear, clothing, accessories and sports equipment at launch.

With Mirza taking on a strategic role and local production now operational, the relaunch signals Agilitas’ ambition to compete more aggressively in the fast-growing sportswear sector, while placing stronger attention on women’s sports and lifestyle-led performance wear.
