King Abdulaziz International Airport has reported a record-breaking year, receiving 53.4 million passengers, the largest figure ever logged at any airport in Saudi Arabia, according to SPA. The performance also places the airport among the world’s major hubs for passenger volumes.
Alongside the sharp rise in travellers, operations included 310,000 flights and the handling of 60.4 million pieces of baggage, reflecting a 12% increase compared to 202, officials said. The airport also dealt with 9.57 million Zamzam water bottles and managed 2,968 cargo flights.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said the result highlights the airport’s development journey and its role as a key regional gateway connecting the kingdom with international destinations. It also pointed to the airport’s contribution to welcoming visitors and pilgrims, expanding tourism in line with Saudi Vision 2030, supporting economic diversification and improving the overall passenger experience.
Jeddah Airports Company CEO Eng. Mazen Johar said reaching 53.4 million passengers shows strong operational readiness and marks an important point as the airport prepares for further growth in the coming years.
He added that this national milestone was achieved with the guidance of Saudi leadership and continued backing from the minister of transport and logistic services, the GACA president and the CEO of Matarat Holding Company.
Johar said that King Abdulaziz International Airport was boosting its position as a major aviation hub in the region through expansions, increased capacity and improved services. This progress supports the objectives of the aviation program and aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, he added.
