Huawei South Africa has officially announced the return of its Women in Tech Digital Skills Training Programme, now in its fourth year, with applications open for the 2025 intake. The initiative will take place from 27 to 29 August in Johannesburg and is tailored for women professionals and entrepreneurs who are eager to harness technology as a catalyst for business growth and leadership development.

With this year’s theme, “TechHERpreneur: Where Innovation Meets Ambition,” the programme intends to empower participants to navigate and succeed in a rapidly evolving digital environment. As industries are increasingly influenced by technologies such as artificial intelligence and 5G, the event aims to bridge the digital skills gap and build strategic capability among women leaders. The programme is fully funded, with no application or attendance fees required.

Over the first two days, attendees will engage in immersive sessions at Huawei’s Johannesburg campus. These sessions, led by Huawei’s own team of experts, will focus on real-world applications of new technologies, providing participants with an opportunity to apply digital tools to existing business challenges.

On the third and final day, the cohort will move to Henley Business School Africa. Here, the emphasis will shift toward leadership, adaptability, and business resilience, rounding off the experience with a certified programme from Henley upon completion.

This year’s schedule introduces a new element, a hands-on tech demonstration and masterclass presented by Stuff, South Africa’s foremost consumer technology publication. The session will highlight practical tech tools designed for small businesses, including productivity platforms and digital visibility solutions.

Speaking about the initiative, Vanashree Govender, Senior PR Manager for Media & Communications at Huawei South Africa, shared insights on the programme’s practical focus. Linda Buckley, Pro Dean of Teaching and Learning at Henley Business School Africa, also underlined the importance of digital proficiency and personal development in business leadership.

A total of 40 participants will be chosen for the 2025 cohort. Selection criteria will focus on entrepreneurial ambition, potential for innovation, and a mindset geared toward business expansion. Encouraging interested women to take part, Govender said: “Whether you’re just getting traction or looking to future-proof what you’ve built, this programme gives you the tools and perspective to make smarter decisions in a changing world.”
