Healthcare AI start-up Heidi has announced the close of a $65 million Series B funding round as it looks to scale its technology aimed at transforming how clinicians manage administrative workloads. The investment, led by Point72 Private Investments, saw continued participation from existing backers Blackbird, Headline, and Latitude, the growth fund of Phoenix Court. The latest capital injection values Heidi at $465 million and brings its total funding to nearly $100 million.
The fresh funding will accelerate Heidi’s goal of building an AI Care Partner designed to work alongside clinicians by automating time-consuming tasks such as clinical documentation, evidence searches, and follow-up communication. With research showing that doctors often spend nearly as much time on administration as they do on patient care, Heidi aims to help healthcare professionals reclaim valuable hours.
In the 18 months since its launch, Heidi’s platform has already returned more than 18 million hours to frontline clinicians by streamlining critical administrative functions.
Dr. Thomas Kelly, CEO and co-founder of Heidi, said:
“It is untenable that healthcare demand continues to rise while clinical time continues to shrink. Building a sustainable healthcare system requires expanding clinical capacity without compromising clinician wellbeing or patient safety. That’s why I founded Heidi: to build an AI Care Partner that stands alongside clinicians, empowering them to deliver the care to which they have dedicated their lives.”
Global adoption and rapid growth
Heidi’s technology has quickly gained traction across the medical community. Tens of thousands of clinicians in over 200 medical specialties now use the platform to reduce their administrative load. In the past 18 months alone, the system has supported 73 million patient consultations and currently assists with more than two million consultations each week. It operates in 110 languages across 116 countries.
With the new funding, Heidi plans to significantly expand its workforce, office presence, and local support teams in key markets, including the UK, USA, and Canada. The company will also deepen adoption efforts in France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Widening global reach in healthcare systems
Healthcare organisations worldwide are exploring how Heidi’s AI can support their operations. In the UK, the platform has been deployed by Modality Partnership in the largest ambient AI rollout in the country and is being trialled across NHS Trusts, including pilot programmes with the North West London Acute Provider Collaborative, a group of hospitals serving around 2.2 million people, and One LSC, which represents five NHS Trusts in Lancashire and South Cumbria, serving nearly 1.8 million people.
In the US, Heidi is working with Beth Israel Lahey Health, the largest hospital network in Massachusetts, and has been cited as a “transformation partner” by MaineGeneral, one of Maine’s largest healthcare networks.
The platform is also gaining ground in Canada, where it has been chosen by the Yukon Government, and in Australia’s public health system through partnerships with Monash Health, which serves around 1.6 million people across 40 facilities, and Queensland Health Children’s Hospital and Health Service, a leading provider of specialist care for young people.
In New Zealand, Heidi has been officially endorsed by the Health Ministry as one of only two AI providers approved for public health system trials.
Investor confidence and strategic appointments
Commenting on the investment, Sri Chandrasekar, Managing Partner at Point72 Private Investments, said: “We believe administrative burden is contributing to clinician burnout and capacity challenges across healthcare systems. Heidi’s platform has the potential to meaningfully improve how clinicians manage their administrative workflows. We’re impressed by the adoption rates they’ve demonstrated within health systems and are excited to support their vision of expanding healthcare capacity while preserving the human touch in patient care.”
As part of its next phase of growth, Heidi has announced two key executive appointments. Paul Williamson, former Head of Revenue at Plaid, has joined as Chief Revenue Officer, while Dr. Simon Kos, previously Chief Medical Officer at Microsoft, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer.
Williamson said: “During my career, I’ve chosen to work with companies that have transformed their respective industries – from Salesforce in customer relationship management to Plaid in financial services. Today, I join Heidi’s mission to redefine healthcare in the age of AI.”
Dr. Kos added: “With Heidi by their side, clinicians not only improve their experience of delivering care but the patients’ experience of receiving it. Heidi’s bold vision extends beyond the current promise of ambient voice technology and into a future where every clinician can leverage AI to expand their clinical capacity while protecting the human touch in healthcare.”
With a growing global footprint and strong investor backing, Heidi is positioning itself as a major player in the healthcare AI space, aiming to fundamentally reshape the way clinicians balance administrative demands with patient care.
