Google Partners with French Institute to Advance Women’s Cancer Research Using AI

This initiative is specifically well-timed, given that France sees nearly 60,000 new breast cancer cases each year, with over 2 million women detected globally in 2022.

Google announced a recent collobaration with the Institute of Women’s Cancers, a joint initiative of Institut Curie, Université PSL, and Inserm, to improve treatment results for women with breast and gynecological cancers. This collaboration will make use of AI tools to better Interpret and deal with complex cancers, especially the rigorous triple-negative breast cancer.

This initiative is specifically well-timed, given that France sees nearly 60,000 new breast cancer cases each year, with over 2 million women detected globally in 2022. By combining Institut Curie’s medical expertise with Google’s AI capabilities, the partnership focuses to foresee cancer progression and Setback risks more precicley and find new biomarkers for treatment effectiveness.   • Research into AI-based tools for cancer prediction and treatment
  • AI skills training for professionals at the Institute of Women’s Cancers and Institut Curie
  • YouTube promotion of Institut Curie’s channel to combat misinformation and raise awareness
  • Over $2 million in Google.org funding to Université PSL for applied AI scientific research
  • A postdoctoral research program focused on improving breast cancer outcomes with AI

This partnership also involves knowledge sharing between Université PSL and Google Research teams, under the guidance of Joëlle Barral, senior director of Research at Google DeepMind, and Cédric Denis-Rémis, vice president of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development at Université PSL.
