Google has officially unveiled its latest generation of smartphones, namely the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. This marks the tenth edition of the flagship lineup. The company says the new devices are the “most personalised, proactive and helpful Pixels ever”, powered by the Google Tensor G5 chip and supported by the newest Gemini Nano model.

The launch brings with it a redesigned look, new accessories and some of the most significant hardware changes seen on Pixel devices to date.

Redesigned hardware and display upgrades

The Pixel 10 series refines the trademark camera bar, introduces Pixelsnap with built-in Qi2 wireless charging, and comes with a line of fresh magnetic accessories. Google has also said the new phones use more recycled materials than any previous Pixel.

For the first time, the handsets debut Material 3 Expressive, a new user interface designed with extra customisation, “springy animations” and smoother interactions. Google is promising seven years of Pixel Drops alongside operating system and security updates, ensuring the devices stay secure and refreshed well into the next decade.

The standard Pixel 10 features a satin-finish metal frame, polished glass back and the same distinctive camera bar. Buyers can pick from four colours: Obsidian, Frost, Indigo and Lemongrass. The device is fitted with a 6.3-inch Actua display that reaches up to 3000 nits, offering improved outdoor visibility. Audio has also been upgraded with stronger bass for an enhanced streaming and entertainment experience.

One of the most notable changes is in the camera system. The Pixel 10 is the first in its tier to include a 5x telephoto lens with fast autofocus, 10x optical quality and Super Res Zoom of up to 20x. This makes capturing distant subjects more practical without losing clarity.

Premium features on Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL

The Pixel 10 Pro has been positioned as the high-end option in the new lineup, available in two sizes, 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch (Pro XL). These devices carry Google’s brightest Super Actua displays and the brand’s most advanced triple-rear camera setup yet. Alongside the classic Obsidian and Porcelain options, buyers can now choose from two new shades: Moonstone and Jade.

A standout addition for the Pro range is Pro Res Zoom, which supports magnification up to 100x. Unlike digital crops, the feature uses Tensor G5 and a dedicated generative imaging model to reconstruct and sharpen detail at extreme distances. Google describes it as “the largest AI model ever used on Pixel Camera.”

Hardware improvements extend beyond the cameras. Both Pro versions ship with larger batteries, enhanced speakers, 16GB of RAM and quicker wired charging. The Pixel 10 Pro XL also supports 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging, making it one of the fastest wireless charging options Google has offered.

New Tensor chip at the core

At the centre of the series is the Tensor G5, described by Google as the most significant upgrade to its in-house silicon since the original Tensor chip. The processor promises quicker performance while enabling exclusive AI-driven functions.

Developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind, Tensor G5 runs the newest Gemini Nano model, which delivers on-device generative AI features. This integration allows users to access advanced tools without needing constant cloud processing, helping with both privacy and responsiveness.

AI support woven throughout

The highlight of this AI integration is Magic Cue. It is designed as a cross-system assistant rather than a single feature. It can, for instance, automatically locate flight details from emails and display them while a user is calling an airline. The tool is also able to surface relevant addresses, reminders or photos during chats without requiring users to leave their conversation.

Google has emphasised that with permission, Tensor G5 and Gemini Nano handle all of this on the device itself, maintaining privacy and security.

AI for photography

The Pixel 10 series also introduces Camera Coach, a feature intended to guide users in improving their photography skills. Powered by Gemini, Camera Coach can make real-time suggestions on framing and composition. Aimed at beginners, it helps explain fundamental techniques while encouraging experimentation.

Looking ahead

With the Pixel 10 line, Google is signalling that hardware and AI will continue to be tightly integrated in its devices. The combination of upgraded displays, larger batteries, improved cameras and the new Tensor G5 chip makes this one of the most comprehensive refreshes of the Pixel series in years.

For users, the promise is not only stronger specifications but also a phone that actively supports daily tasks, anticipates needs and continues to evolve with long-term updates.
