GE HealthCare has unveiled its latest innovation in breast imaging: the Pristina Via mammography system, designed to improve both technologist efficiency and patient-centred care. The new system promises to balance diagnostic precision with fast-paced workflows, empowering technologists to deliver personalised, high-quality care during screenings.
The Pristina Via introduces several cutting-edge features aimed at streamlining mammography procedures. One standout is its zero-click acquisition functionality, which enables quicker and more seamless image capture. This feature eliminates delays between exposures, allowing technologists to operate at their own pace, without sacrificing the quality of care.
A significant advantage of the Pristina Via is its speed. The system’s digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) image-to-image cycle is reported to be up to twice as fast as that of other current mammography systems, improving efficiency without compromising diagnostic accuracy. The system also allows for vendor-neutral prior image comparisons, reducing the time required to analyse previous exams and further improving workflow.
Another key selling point of the Pristina Via is its low radiation dose, which, according to GE HealthCare, is the lowest for every breast thickness compared to other systems on the market. This means patients will receive optimal care with reduced exposure, while technologists benefit from a smoother, faster process.
“Pristina Via represents a significant evolution in our patient-focused Senographe Pristina platform, which was designed by women for women,” said Pooja Pathak, GE HealthCare’s Global Mammography General Manager and Vice-President.
She added, “During our intensive collaboration with our end users in the design phase, we heard time and again that the technologist’s workday can feel like a race against the clock. Pristina Via is our answer to this challenge. The system’s advanced features were engineered to automate processes and allow our users to give patients the attentive, quality care they deserve. I am thrilled that SimonMed, our longtime customer, will be implementing this new technology as part of their mammography services.”
The Pristina Via system is set to make a significant impact in mammography clinics, offering a much-needed solution to the pressures faced by healthcare professionals while enhancing patient experience. With its blend of speed, accuracy, and patient-focused design, it represents the future of breast imaging technology.
As GE HealthCare continues to innovate, the Pristina Via is a promising step towards improving both the efficiency of medical professionals and the care patients receive during breast screening.
