G42, a prominent leader in AI and cloud computing, has announced a partnership with NVIDIA to promote climate technology. Their collaboration aims to develop AI-driven solutions that significantly improve the precision of weather forecasting on a global scale.
The collaboration expands on NVIDIA’s Earth-2, an open platform that drives climate and weather forecasts with interactive, AI-enhanced, and high-resolution modelling. In this case, G42 and NVIDIA will first adopt a square-kilometre resolution weather forecasting model to enhance the reliability of meteorological predictions.
Key to this initiative is the creation of a new operational base and Climate Tech Lab in Abu Dhabi. This advanced facility will act as a centre for research and development, enhancing both companies’ dedication to environmental sustainability. It will also facilitate the development of customised climate and weather solutions, utilising more than 100 petabytes of geophysical data.
