TAL has announced the appointment of Fiona Macgregor as its new Group CEO and Managing Director, effective from October 1, 2024. Macgregor will continue in her current role as Chief Executive of Individual Life until then, transitioning into her new role alongside outgoing CEO Brett Clark over the next three months.

Clark, who has been with TAL for nine years, will assume the role of CEO and Managing Director of Asia-Pacific for TAL’s parent company, Dai-ichi Life Group, starting July 1, 2024.

With a robust background in innovation, customer relations, partnerships, brand, and technology, Macgregor is set to guide TAL’s strategic direction in the life insurance and retirement markets. Her focus will be on enhancing customer and partner experiences through digital innovation.

TAL Board Chair Mark Joiner expressed confidence in Macgregor’s capabilities, stating, “Fiona Macgregor is an impressive leader with more than ten years in senior leadership roles at TAL. She has a strong track record of leadership in the business and has helped to grow and shape TAL.”

He further emphasized Macgregor’s deep understanding of TAL’s operations and her alignment with the evolving needs of their customers and partners. Joiner also extended his gratitude to Brett Clark for his leadership, acknowledging his role in transforming TAL into one of Australia’s top life insurers.

Macgregor shared her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “Together with our partners, we want to continue to ensure Australians are well-protected and supported in living the life they have planned for themselves and their families. We’ll keep working hard to ensure we deliver products that are relevant and valued, and a faster, better service experience.”

Clark reflected on his tenure, saying, “It’s been a privilege to lead TAL through a significant period of growth and industry change. I’m excited by my new opportunity with Dai-ichi Life Group, and to be able to continue to support Fiona and TAL as part of my CEO role in Asia-Pacific.”

The leadership transition is set to be smooth, with Clark and Macgregor working closely together in the upcoming months.
