Chief, the largest network for senior women executives, has revealed that Alison Moore will take over as CEO from February 3, 2025. This marks a key moment in the company’s leadership transition, with Carolyn Childers, the current CEO and co-founder, stepping into the role of Chairman of the Board. Meanwhile, Lindsay Kaplan, also a co-founder, will continue her involvement as a Board Director.
Since its founding in 2019, Childers and Kaplan have transformed Chief into a powerful community designed to connect and support high-level female executives. Today, the organisation boasts tens of thousands of members from over 10,000 companies, including 77% of the Fortune 100. Chief operates from five major locations across the United States, in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. This year, the company launched new membership offerings, featuring one-on-one executive coaching, advisory services, and an Executive Education programme in collaboration with the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Alison Moore expressed her excitement about her new role, stating, “Chief is a beacon for empowering women leaders and I’m humbled by the opportunity to serve as its next CEO. When I joined Chief as a founding member, I saw the immense power and potential of Chief — all that’s possible when women leaders could learn, connect, and grow together. Chief gives women the unique opportunity to catalyze change across their personal work journey with the most supportive and passionate community behind them. With the trust of Carolyn, Lindsay, and the Board, I’m eager to drive innovation across the business, while building on the core principles that make Chief unlike any other community for executive women leaders.”
Reflecting on the company’s growth, Carolyn Childers shared, “It has been the greatest honor for Lindsay and me to see how Chief has impacted tens of thousands of women. After months of reflection and planning, we’re excited for this new chapter with Alison at the helm. Her ability to drive innovation where it’s needed, while staying true to a company’s purpose, made her the ideal leader to carry Chief forward.”
Alison Moore brings over two decades of experience to her new position. A seasoned leader in the worlds of technology, media, social impact, and entertainment, she has held significant roles at organisations like HBO, DailyCandy, NBCUniversal, SoundCloud, and Condé Nast. Moore’s most recent role was as CEO of Comic Relief US, where she successfully led the global charity for five years, helping to raise over $436 million and improve the lives of 35 million children. Her work was marked by creative and bold campaigns, such as the iconic Red Nose Day initiative, which pushed the boundaries of digital and media partnerships to expand the charity’s influence.
In addition to her work with Comic Relief US, Moore is an active board member of Downtown Music Holdings and TRACE Music Group. She will continue serving on the Comic Relief US board after her transition to Chief.
Ken Chenault, Chairman of General Catalyst and board member at Chief, commented on the leadership transition, saying, “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Carolyn and Lindsay for their vision and leadership. Together, they built Chief into a dynamic and impactful business and community. We’re thrilled that Alison, an accomplished, mission-driven leader, will build on the strong foundation that Carolyn and Lindsay established for the business, the mission of which is more critical now than ever before.”
This leadership shift signals an exciting future for Chief as it continues to support and empower women at the very top of their professions.
