BIGHIT MUSIC, the flagship label under HYBE, has announced the appointment of Shin Seon Jeong as its new CEO. Previously serving as the label’s General Manager, Shin played a critical role in the development and global success of BTS, one of the world’s most iconic boy bands.

Shin’s promotion to CEO was confirmed at a recent shareholders’ meeting and following a resolution by the Board of Directors. She takes over the role from former CEO Shin Young Jae, who has been promoted to the CEO of HYBE Music Group APAC, where he will now oversee operations across the Asia-Pacific region.

Shin Seon Jeong is widely regarded within the industry for her dedication and vision, particularly in her support of BTS during their formative years. One of BTS’s members, RM, once described Shin as one of the “guardian angels” who helped keep Jimin in the group during a critical time, saying, “She is one of the two guardian angels who kept Jimin in the group at the time. In a way getting Jimin to stay was basically protecting BTS and your decision was right. Without Jimin it would’ve been a disaster.” This pivotal moment in BTS’s early days was crucial to the band’s continued success, and Shin’s contribution was invaluable.

Shin Seon Jeong’s leadership has been widely recognised. In 2022, she made it onto Billboard’s prestigious 40 Under 40 list, which honours influential figures in the music industry. She was also named in Billboard’s Women in Music list in 2023, further cementing her reputation as a powerful force in the world of entertainment.

Her appointment as CEO signals a new era for BIGHIT MUSIC as it continues to expand its global reach and influence. With her deep connection to BTS and vast experience in the industry, Shin is expected to drive the label towards even greater achievements in the years to come.
