ADNOC Gas has announced the signing of a Heads of Agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for the supply of 0.5 million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) over a 10-year period.
The agreement highlights ADNOC Gas’ growing presence in the Asian LNG market and further deepens the company’s longstanding energy ties with India. It marks the third long-term LNG supply deal the company has signed with Indian firms in the last year, following agreements with Indian Oil Corporation and GAIL India Limited.
Under this arrangement, LNG will be sourced from ADNOC Gas’ Das Island liquefaction facility, which boasts a production capacity of 6 mmtpa. Das Island is one of the world’s most enduring LNG production sites and has delivered over 3,500 cargoes globally since commencing operations.
Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, commented: “This long-term agreement with HPCL, our third with Indian companies in the past year, reflects the robust energy partnership between the UAE and India. This milestone underscores ADNOC Gas’ ability to reliably meet rising global demand for LNG and support India’s ambition to increase natural gas to 15% of its primary energy mix by 2030.”
The contract reflects ADNOC Gas’ strategy to increase its global LNG exports while contributing to energy transition goals by offering natural gas as a lower-emission alternative to other fossil fuels. The partnership with HPCL is also aligned with India’s ongoing push to raise the share of natural gas in its energy mix to 15% by the end of this decade.
With this new agreement, ADNOC Gas continues to position itself as a key player in both regional and global natural gas supply chains, reinforcing its reputation as a dependable partner for international energy buyers.
