Minister of Small and Family Business, Andrea Michaels, conveyed on her key election promise to provide mentoring, networking and upskilling opportunities for South Australian women to overcome the barriers that they face on starting and running businesses effectively.
This initiative was launched in November 2022 and since then, there are more than 900 women who have taken part in three program streams:
- The Women in Business Advisory Program, in collaboration with Behind Closed Doors: High-growth business seeks to improve their corporate governance, establish an advisory board, expand, or become export-ready.
- The Women in Business Foundations Program, by Adelaide Business Hub: Encompasses a wide range of talent building opportunities designed to give female founders the knowledge, tools and contacts required to succeed, along with four hours of guidance with an industry expert.
- HERstory, Business Collective event series, in partnership with the Port Adelaide Football Club: Delivers a suite of networking and professional development opportunities to support women business owners to achieve their growth ambitions.
This initiative is a backbone of the $14 million Small Business Strategy, to support women in Business and outlets the government’s policies and program to empower small business owners to take their enterprises with 20 designated initiatives to new heights.
The Malinauskas Government is immensely proud of the impact the program has had in its first year. Women across the state have shown interest and taken part in the program with 36 percent of participants from regional South Australia and 40 percent of sole traders. As we are stepping into 2024, the government is offering further programs and opportunities to strengthen the growth of women in the business domain.
