Archana Vemulapalli joins Goldman Sachs as partner and head of AI strategy

Taking on the role of Global Head of AI Product Management and Strategic Relations, she is tasked with leading the firm’s artificial intelligence roadmap and managing its external relationships with major AI labs.

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. has confirmed the appointment of Archana Vemulapalli as a Partner within its Engineering division. Taking on the role of Global Head of AI Product Management and Strategic Relations, she is tasked with leading the firm’s artificial intelligence roadmap and managing its external relationships with major AI labs.

In her new position, Vemulapalli will collaborate with engineering teams and various business divisions to create new AI offerings. A key part of her remit involves overseeing strategic engagements with frontier AI laboratories and providers of AI applications. The move is intended to help the investment bank use innovative technology to meet its primary business goals.

Vemulapalli comes to the role with more than 20 years of experience in the engineering and technology sectors. She was most recently at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), where she managed the commercialisation of enterprise AI and worked on industry partnerships to define the company’s AI strategy. Her previous experience also includes a high-level role at Amazon Web Services as the Global Head of Product and Strategy for Data and AI. In that capacity, she focused on helping large enterprises adopt cloud-based AI services.

Her professional background also includes time at IBM, where she served as both chief technology officer and general manager for Global Technology Services. Additionally, she has experience in the public sector, having worked as the chief technology officer and a cabinet member for the District of Columbia Government. She has also served on the board of Paycom as an independent director.

Vemulapalli holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Madras and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She also earned an Executive Master in Leadership from Georgetown University.
