Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited has appointed Mrs Elozino Olaniyan as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, with the role becoming effective on 1 December 2025.

The company confirmed the appointment in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that Olaniyan is the first woman to lead the organisation since it was founded 26 years ago. Management said the decision aligns with its wider agenda to strengthen corporate governance, deepen leadership capacity and support Nigeria’s wider energy ambitions.

Olaniyan brings more than three decades of experience in the energy sector, having worked across upstream operations, corporate strategy and stakeholder engagement. Prior to her new role, she served as General Manager, Safety and Environment, at Renaissance Africa Energy Company Ltd., where she oversaw reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and environmental outcomes.

Olaniyan called the appointment at a critical period in the company’s operations an honour. She added that the organisation would prioritise operational discipline, transparency and sustainable growth to deliver value for stakeholders while contributing to Nigeria’s broader energy landscape.

Chairman of the Board, Mr Emeka Okwuosa, described the appointment as a significant moment in Midwestern’s progression. He said that Olaniyan represents a new generation of leaders in the sector, expressing confidence in her ability to oversee the company’s next phase under an improved governance structure.

Established in 1999, Midwestern Oil and Gas is an indigenous exploration and production company with assets spanning upstream and midstream operations. Its portfolio includes the Umusadege Field, gas processing facilities and a range of energy partnership ventures across the Niger Delta. The company maintains a focus on sustainable resource management, capacity development and environmental responsibility.
