DJ Cuppy is the first British-Nigerian to host the UN General Assembly’s opening session

Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, known as DJ Cuppy made history as the first Nigerian to host the opening session at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

At this year’s Youth Action Day, themed “The Summit of the Future – Youth Actions Day,” a versatile DJ, philanthropist, and founder of the Cuppy Foundation captured everyone’s attention.

During her keynote session, DJ Cuppy’s presence electrified the assembly hall as she successfully rallied the audience, displaying her signature charisma. She concluded the event with a powerful musical performance, leaving a lasting impression on both global leaders and young attendees.

At the UN Headquarters in New York, Cuppy moderated a session and then rocked the evening with a thrilling musical performance. Her session brought together the largest group of young people ever at the UN Headquarters, with young leaders and activists from all over the world.

DJ Cuppy is a strong supporter of youth empowerment, using her platform to inspire and mobilize young people. Through her foundation, she is committed to creating opportunities for youth, particularly in the fields of education and sustainability.

During her session, she  shared her dream of becoming Nigeria’s first female president, which excited the audience. Her bold comment grabbed attention, especially when UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed  replied, “After me,” making everyone laugh.

DJ Cuppy, encouraged the youth to take bold steps towards addressing global issues such as gender inequality, climate change, and economic hardships.

The 2024 UNGA Summit of the Future focused on highlighting the urgent actions needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
