Women’s World Banking (WWB), a global non-profit organization, has unveiled its Digital Credit Activation Toolkit, aiming to bolster financial inclusion for women worldwide.

During the launch event, experts emphasized the pivotal role of digital credit solutions in advancing women’s financial empowerment and narrowing the gender gap in finance.

“The toolkit is designed to empower financial institutions to enhance their digital credit offerings, with a specific focus on driving financial inclusion for low-income women,” stated a spokesperson. Developed through extensive research and collaboration, it offers a framework for crafting solutions attuned to the specific needs of women.

By tackling gender biases and integrating women-centric design principles, the toolkit aims to foster inclusive financial ecosystems, notably benefitting Nigeria’s vast majority of unserved or underserved women.

“At WWB, our mission is to ensure all women access the financial tools vital for their aspirations,” noted Ade Ashaye, WWB’s regional head. “The launch of the toolkit is a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to promoting financial inclusion.

This toolkit equips financial institutions with the knowledge and tools to develop digital credit solutions that are not only accessible but also responsive to the needs of low-income women.”

Comprising three key phases—Assess, Adapt, and Roll Out—the toolkit offers actionable insights for financial institutions seeking to enhance their digital credit offerings.

“We will implement the Toolkit using an acronym that I call IVIE: Impact, Value, Inspire, and Empower. These pillars will help us easily attract customers and achieve the desired results. Our focus is on uplifting, inspiring, inclusion, and empowering women to reach a status akin to royalty,” shared Uche Uzoebo, Chief Distribution and Stakeholder Engagement Officer at Shared Agent Network Expansion Facilities Limited.

Angela Wambugu, WWB’s Director of Advisory Services for Africa, hailed the toolkit as a transformative leap towards inclusive financial services. “By empowering financial institutions to offer tailored digital credit solutions, we are unlocking new opportunities for low-income women, enabling them to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.”

The launch underscores WWB’s unwavering commitment to fostering financial inclusion, paving the way for more equitable financial landscapes globally.
