Women-owned businesses in Greater Philadelphia have made a remarkable comeback, surpassing the £875 million revenue mark in 2023. This achievement, as highlighted in the latest edition of the Business Journal’s List of Highest Revenue-Earning Women-Owned Businesses, underscores a decade of resilience and progress in the region’s entrepreneurial landscape.
Leading the charge is Neta Scientific Inc., which reported revenues of £181.5 million. Following closely are Bittenbender Construction LP at £131.8 million and ACCU Staffing, with revenues of £91.15 million. CFI Workspace generated £75 million, while EMR – The Electric Motor Repair Co. brought in £35 million. Other notable firms include D.C. Humphrys Co. Inc. at £31 million, London Approach Inc. at £27 million, and Armor Masonry Restoration, which reported £18.2 million. Additionally, Just in Time GCP earned £17.5 million, and Willig Williams & Davidson rounded out the list with £15 million.
These top 10 firms significantly contributed to the overall success, accounting for £623.15 million, or 71.2% of the total revenue. Their success spans a variety of sectors, including construction, staffing, law, and laboratory supplies, showcasing the diverse strength of women-led enterprises.
In stark contrast to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, when revenues plummeted to £495.29 million in 2021, the past three years have seen an impressive rebound. Total revenues have risen by nearly £380 million—a staggering 77% increase—demonstrating the tenacity of these businesses.
Interestingly, the gap between the top revenue-generating firms and the rest has widened. In 2022, the top 10 companies recorded a combined revenue of £452.47 million, which represented 65% of the overall £690 million.
For the first time in over a decade, the combined revenue of these enterprises reached £875.24 million, generated by 83 majority women-owned firms in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. This landmark figure not only highlights their growth but also reflects their ability to thrive following difficult times.
This latest data sets a new benchmark for women-owned enterprises in the region, serving as a testament to their commitment to success and resilience in the face of adversity.
