The BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, a part of the BRICS Corporation Mechanism, is forging new pathways to tap into entrepreneurial potential of women, said Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

Ren said this during the 2024 BRICS Women’s Leadership Forum, which took place in Beijing on Tuesday. The China Chamber of International Commerce and CCPIT co-hosted the meeting, which had as its subject “Value Diversity, Shared Prosperity” and was a flagship event under BRICS.

The All-China Women’s Federation’s vice-president and founding member of the secretariat, Huang Xiaowei, underlined that women’s involvement and contributions are essential to BRICS collaboration. She emphasised China’s dedication to empowering women and supporting women’s concerns, emphasising the critical role that women play in propelling Chinese modernization. According to Huang, women make up more than 40% of the workforce in China, with 45.8% of them working in technology.

The South African ambassador to China, Siyabonga Cwele, recognized the difficulties encountered by female company owners, including discrimination based on gender, restricted access to markets and funding, and high operating expenses. He pointed out that the BRICS Women’s Leadership Forum is a unique chance to accelerate gender mainstreaming and leverage the strength of women’s leadership to create a more sustainable, inclusive and just world.
