Park Handbag to invest US$80 million in BEPZA Economic Zone project

Under the terms of the agreement, Park Handbag BD Ltd will develop a manufacturing project on 57,600 square metres of land.

South Korean manufacturer Park Handbag BD Ltd is set to invest US$80 million in Bangladesh after signing a lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a major manufacturing facility at the BEPZA Economic Zone in Mirsharai, Chattogram.

The agreement was signed on 26 January 2026 at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, signed on behalf of the authority, while Mr. Beomjoon Park, Chairman of Park Handbag BD Ltd, represented the investing company. The signing ceremony was witnessed by BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, ndc, afwc, psc, G, MPhil.

Under the terms of the agreement, Park Handbag BD Ltd will develop a manufacturing project on 57,600 square metres of land. The facility will produce handbags, backpacks and luggage, alongside a broad range of knit and woven garments. These include polo shirts, T-shirts, padded and down jackets, trousers, sportswear and undergarments.

Once the factory becomes fully operational, the project is expected to generate employment for 10,960 Bangladeshi nationals. According to BEPZA, the products manufactured at the site will be exported to key international markets, including the USA, the UK, the European Union, South America and Asia.

Welcoming the investment, the Executive Chairman of BEPZA reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to providing round-the-clock support to investors. He also encouraged Mr. Beomjoon Park to motivate other South Korean entrepreneurs to consider investment opportunities within BEPZA-administered export processing zones and economic zones.

During his address, the Executive Chairman said BEPZA is continuing efforts to modernise its service delivery, with a focus on expanding automation, strengthening digital services and improving operational efficiency for investors. “We should do better than yesterday,” he remarked.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Beomjoon Park said Park Handbag BD Ltd will manufacture bags for globally recognised brands such as Coach and Kate Spade. He also expressed confidence in Bangladesh as a competitive manufacturing base and praised BEPZA for its fast, efficient and investor-friendly services.

The event was attended by senior BEPZA officials, including Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Engineering); A N M Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance); Md. Khorshid Alam, Executive Director (Enterprise Services); Samir Biswas, Executive Director (Administration); and A.S.M. Anwar Parvez, Executive Director (Public Relations), alongside representatives from Park Handbag BD Ltd.
