Effective August 12, 2024, MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd has appointed Nur Izwan Mohd Nawawi as interim officer-in-charge following the resignation of Dr. Mazatul ‘Aini Shahar Abdul Malek Shahar from her position as chief financial officer (CFO).

The refined sugar manufacturer announced that Nur Izwan will take on the CFO’s duties and powers until the board selects an appropriate candidate for the role.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the sugar refiners announced that Nur Izwan has been appointed as the interim officer-in-charge “until the board finds a suitable candidate for the CFO position,” according to MSM. In the interim, Nur Izwan, with an accounting degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), will take on the duties and authority of the CFO.

According to MSM, Nur Izwan brings 22 years of experience in accounting and finance to the table. He is affiliated with both the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

In a different announcement, MSM reported that Mazatul, who is 52 years old, will be departing the company to assume the role of Chief Financial Officer at a financial institution. Mazatul has served as the CFO for almost two years, having been appointed on December 1, 2022. At the end of last year, her name gained attention when MSM put her on garden leave from October 20 until February 1 of this year, to assist with an ongoing internal investigation.
