Meat Business Women (MBW) has secured a two-year strategic partnership with Tesco, aiming to promote gender balance and inclusion within the meat industry and the broader food sector. This collaboration formalises a mutual commitment to increasing diversity and building a stronger talent pipeline in the industry.

Richard Wood, Tesco’s Director of Meat, Fish, Eggs, and Poultry, and Product Commercial Director for Onestop, highlighted the importance of the partnership: “Tesco is proud to be at the forefront of gender representation within the food sector. Building a balanced team is not only the right thing to do, it’s essential to creating a stronger organisation and a more resilient industry. Our partnership with Meat Business Women is a vital step towards making gender inclusivity a priority, and we’re excited to work together to inspire similar commitment across our supplier network.”

Laura Ryan, the Founder and Global Chair of Meat Business Women, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting: “Tesco joins the Meat Business Women family at an extremely exciting time of growth. We are leading the conversation on gender balance and providing practical solutions to partners. We are delighted to have Tesco on board and to be working with their teams and suppliers.”

MBW has long been dedicated to supporting women in the meat sector, working with businesses to break down the barriers that hinder female professionals from reaching their full potential. As the United Nations-recognised global network for women in the meat industry, MBW focuses on improving sustainability in the sector while increasing the representation of women in a traditionally male-dominated field.
