Women in Tech Kenya and Women in Tech Uzbekistan held a joint summit in Nairobi on 6 March 2026. The event, titled “Beyond Boundaries: Women in Tech Global Exchange”, sought to connect female professionals and students across different continents. The collaboration holds particular diplomatic weight following the official establishment of relations between Kenya and Uzbekistan at the end of 2025.
More than 200 people attended the gathering, ranging from students to established industry executives and male allies. Participants engaged in detailed discussions regarding the digital economy, including wealth protection, financial security and the realities of entrepreneurship. Digital safety was also a primary focus, specifically regarding technology-facilitated gender-based violence.
Antonia Ngabala-Sodonon, UN Women Kenya Country Representative, delivered a special address regarding gender equality in the digital age. Ayumi Moore Aoki, Founder and Global CEO of Women in Tech, also joined the proceedings virtually to congratulate the organisers. International delegates included Lidiya Borisenko from Serbia and Benie Koy, Co-Founder of Women in Tech DR Congo.
Borisenko shared remarks from Anna Ambrozevich, Director of Women in Tech Uzbekistan: “Uzbekistan and Kenya may be far apart geographically, but when we started working together, we discovered how much our countries actually have in common. Both are dynamic, ambitious, and full of young talent. Both are building growing technology ecosystems. And both have incredible women who want to innovate, lead, and shape the future.”
The summit placed a heavy emphasis on youth leadership. Members of the Kenya Girl Guides Association presented robotics projects created in partnership with the European Business University. The day also featured creative elements, including a custom theme song produced by the event’s master of ceremonies to celebrate the new connection between the two nations.
Organisations including Canva, PesaLink, AWS, UNICAF and Little Cab supported the event. Media coverage was provided by CIO Africa and Business Insider Africa. This international exchange occurs as the global community prepares for the Women in Tech Global Summit 2026, which is scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa. The Nairobi event demonstrated that shared priorities such as ethical AI and youth engagement can unite communities regardless of geographical distance.
