For many years, discussions around the wealthiest Indian-origin leaders in the global technology sector have focused on names such as Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai. While both men head some of the world’s most influential companies, neither currently leads the rankings when it comes to personal wealth among Indian-origin executives.

The latest Hurun India Rich List 2025 places that distinction with Jayshree Ullal, President and CEO of Arista Networks. According to the list, Ullal has emerged as the richest Indian professional manager worldwide.

The report estimates Ullal’s net worth at Rs 50,170 crore. This puts her well ahead of several prominent Silicon Valley figures. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella follows with a net worth of Rs 9,770 crore, while Google chief Sundar Pichai is ranked seventh with Rs 5,810 crore.

Ullal has been at the helm of Arista Networks since 2008. The company, which specialises in computer networking solutions, has seen significant growth during her tenure. In 2024, the publicly listed firm reported revenues of $7 billion, reflecting a rise of nearly 20 per cent compared with the previous year, according to Forbes.

She holds roughly 3 per cent of Arista Networks’ stock. A portion of her shareholding has been set aside for her two children, as well as her niece and nephew.

Born in London on March 27, 1961, Ullal comes from a Hindu family of Indian origin. As reported by Bloomberg, she moved to India at the age of five. Her father, a physicist, worked with India’s Ministry of Education and played a role in the establishment of the Indian Institutes of Technology.

Ullal completed her schooling at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in New Delhi. She later relocated to San Francisco following her father’s work commitments. According to her LinkedIn profile, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from San Francisco State University. She subsequently completed a Master of Science in Engineering Management at Santa Clara University in 1986. In 2025, she received an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering in recognition of her contributions to the industry.

Her professional career began in the semiconductor sector, with positions at Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and Fairchild Semiconductor, Bloomberg reported. She later joined Crescendo Communications, serving as vice president of marketing until the company was acquired by Cisco in 1993.

Ullal went on to build Cisco’s switching business into a major revenue-generating division before departing in 2008. She joined Arista Networks the same year, when the company had fewer than 30 employees and operated from a law firm’s basement. She is currently based in San Francisco.
