GirlCode, the non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women through technology, is gearing up to host a special one-day summit to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The event will take place on November 27 at Sloane in Bryanston, marking a decade of making a significant impact in the tech world.

Mkhuseli Mkwanazi, founder of GirlCode, highlighted the importance of the summit as a moment to reflect on the achievements of the past decade. “This summit is a chance to celebrate the incredible women we’ve worked with, gain valuable industry insights, and build a network that can continue to empower women in tech and beyond,” she said.

To further its mission of supporting women in the tech sector, GirlCode has partnered with Vuma, a prominent fibre network operator, to sponsor 10 talented women in tech to attend the summit. This partnership underscores the organisation’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for aspiring women in technology.

Taylor Kwong, Vuma’s head of marketing, expressed the company’s pride in supporting the event. “We’re delighted to be a part of the GirlCode Summit and one of its proud sponsors. Their 10-year milestone is proof of the amazing work they do to empower young women and girls in South Africa. In a country where women are often underrepresented in the tech sector, GirlCode’s initiatives make a real difference, providing necessary tools that unlock so much undiscovered potential. We can’t wait to see what the next 10 years bring for them,” he said.

The summit promises to be an exciting opportunity for attendees to gain valuable knowledge, connect with like-minded individuals, and find inspiration to push their careers to new heights. With a focus on empowerment, networking, and education, GirlCode’s event is set to leave a lasting impact on the women who attend.
