L’Oréal Paris has officially welcomed Gillian Anderson as its newest Global Ambassador. The multi-award-winning actress, writer, and activist is set to bring her passion for empowerment and inclusivity to the brand’s latest campaign.
As part of this collaboration, Anderson takes center stage in the new Age Perfect campaign, which aims to inspire women over 50 to pursue their ambitions without limitations.
“Women are extraordinary; unique, complex, brilliant, beautiful inside and out, at every age. Yet the narrative surrounding women and aging, rarely, if ever, reflects that,” said Anderson.
“L’Oréal Paris has championed women of all ages for decades, and I’m thrilled to join them as they inspire women to break free from stereotypes and put themselves at the centre of their own stories.”
Shot in Paris by acclaimed American artist Cass Bird, the campaign is a vibrant celebration of embracing life at every stage.
L’Oréal Paris highlighted how Anderson’s dedication to activism aligns seamlessly with its core values, particularly in advocating for women’s empowerment, sustainability, and inclusivity.
Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, Global President of L’Oréal Paris, expressed her enthusiasm for Anderson’s role in the brand’s mission.
“We are honoured to welcome Gillian Anderson to L’Oréal Paris. Not only is she a true icon with a decades-long career that spans stage and screen, but she shares our mission at L’Oréal Paris to empower women to celebrate their beauty at every age.
“With her history of inspiring women, elevating their stories, and fighting for their rights, she encourages all of us to defy conventional timelines and be unstoppable – no matter our age.”
Anderson’s journey to stardom began with her portrayal of Special Agent Dana Scully in the iconic TV series The X-Files, a role that not only brought her widespread acclaim but also inspired many women to pursue careers in medicine, science, and law enforcement—a cultural shift known as “The Scully Effect.”
Over the years, she has continued to make her mark through powerful performances in both theatre and film. Some of her most notable works include A Streetcar Named Desire, All About Eve, The House of Mirth, The Fall, Sex Education, and The Crown. More recently, she starred in the 2024 films Scoop and The Salt Path.
Beyond her acting career, Anderson is a dedicated advocate for women’s rights and reproductive health. She has supported organisations such as The Feminist Majority Foundation and Planned Parenthood since 1996 and is also involved with Wellbeing of Women in the UK. Her commitment to female empowerment extends to her literary work as well, including her books WE: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere and Want: Sexual Fantasies by Anonymous, as well as her podcast What Do I Know?!
With this new partnership, Anderson and L’Oréal Paris continue their shared mission of breaking barriers and celebrating the strength of women at every stage of life.
