First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has partnered with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to introduce the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Online education programme in Nigeria, a landmark initiative designed to empower women entrepreneurs.

The programme, created by Goldman Sachs and delivered in collaboration with the University of Leeds, offers a blend of practical business education, interactive exercises, and guidance from leading business school lecturers.

Having reached over 200,000 entrepreneurs worldwide already, the programme will now give Nigerian women-led SMEs access to ten in-depth courses, alongside eligibility to join a thriving alumni network. It is open to both early-stage ventures and established businesses, aiming to drive economic advancement by equipping participants with essential business skills.

The move builds on FCMB’s SheVentures initiative, which has supported thousands of Nigerian women entrepreneurs over the last five years with zero-interest loans totalling ₦800 million, in addition to providing training and mentorship opportunities.

“Empowering women entrepreneurs is essential to driving innovation, job creation, and economic growth,” said Yemisi Edun, FCMB’s Managing Director. “This program will enhance their skills and unlock new opportunities, aligning with our commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth.”

George Ogbonnaya, FCMB’s Divisional Head of Business Banking, added, “This collaboration promotes a more inclusive entrepreneurial landscape and fosters sustainable growth for all.”

The initiative reflects FCMB’s ongoing commitment to supporting SMEs, a key pillar of Nigeria’s economy. Applications for the 10,000 Women Online programme opened on 1 August 2025 and will close on 31 August 2025.
