Lloyd’s, the renowned marketplace for insurance and reinsurance, has named Dawn Miller as its new Chief Commercial Officer and CEO of Lloyd’s Americas, effective from September 1, 2024. Miller, who will be based in New York, will step into her expanded role with a wealth of experience in the global insurance industry.
In her capacity as Chief Commercial Officer, Miller will retain her leadership of the Commercial directorate and oversee Lloyd’s Global Network while serving as a member of Lloyd’s Executive Committee. As CEO of Lloyd’s Americas, her focus will be on nurturing key relationships and driving strategic growth in the region, with a particular emphasis on strengthening ties with Bermuda.
Following a remarkable 15-year tenure at Lloyd’s, Hank Watkins, the current Regional Director & President of Lloyd’s Americas, will be bidding farewell to pursue new opportunities by the end of this year. Watkins leaves behind a legacy of guiding customers and stakeholders through evolving risks and solutions in the region.
In tandem with Miller’s appointment, Lloyd’s has also announced Marc Lipman as the President of Lloyd’s Americas, based in Canada, effective September 1. Lipman, who joined Lloyd’s in June 2020, has played a pivotal role in fortifying Lloyd’s Canadian business, establishing robust governance frameworks and implementing strategic initiatives.
John Neal, CEO of Lloyd’s, expressed confidence in the appointments, he said, “The Americas represents over 60% of our market’s total premium and as we look to increase our presence, it is vital that we have the right people on the ground to deliver our ambitions. With a distinguished career spanning over 25 years, Miller brings a wealth of expertise in underwriting, distribution, client management, and strategy. Her professional journey has taken her across key hubs in Washington D.C., London, Houston, New York, Paris, Dubai, San Francisco, and Zurich, where she held leadership positions at renowned firms including Chubb, AXA, AIG, and WTW.
