The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS), a subsidiary of the Bank of Ghana, has confirmed the appointment of Mrs Clara B. Arthur as its next Chief Executive Officer. Her appointment is scheduled to take effect on 1 September 2025.
Mrs Arthur brings extensive expertise from the financial services and technology sectors, underpinned by a strong record of leadership and innovation. Her career has seen her serve in various senior capacities, notably with Fidelity Bank Ghana and E Process International S.A., part of the Ecobank Group. She has also worked in private consultancy, offering technical insights and expert guidance in IT and payment systems.
The announcement was made by Dr Johnson Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Chairman of the GhIPSS Board. “We are confident that Mrs. Arthur will bring a fresh perspective and strategic vision to GhIPSS, and will help lead the institution into the next phase of growth and success,” he stated.
Responding to the appointment, Mrs Arthur remarked, “I am honoured to step into this role at this pivotal time. It is more of a return for me and I look forward to work alongside this talented team to continue the legacy of GhIPSS. Together we will continue to drive meaningful impact, embrace new opportunities, and shape a future in the payments industry that we can all be proud of.”
This leadership change also marks the departure of Mr Archie Hesse, whose tenure as CEO has come to a close. His contributions and commitment to the institution were acknowledged during the announcement.
