The 2025 CPKC Women’s Open has delivered both sporting and community milestones, with Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson securing her second tournament title while the event generated a record $4.5 million for cardiac health in Ontario.

Over the course of the week, enthusiastic crowds gathered at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club, where CPKC presented $4 million to MacKids, part of the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation supporting McMaster Children’s Hospital, and a further $502,000 to Trillium Health Partners. The donations mark the largest single-year contribution in the tournament’s history.

The championship’s climax came on Sunday when Henderson, Canada’s most decorated golfer and a long-standing CPKC Ambassador, secured her 14th LPGA Tour victory. The Smiths Falls, Ontario native delivered a commanding performance to lift the trophy, ending her run without a Tour win since January 2023. Her first triumph at the event came in 2018, when it was still branded the CP Women’s Open in Regina, Saskatchewan.

“We were thrilled to return to Ontario for a tremendous week of golf and giving, culminating in a record $4.5 million being raised for MacKids and Trillium Health Partners to support pediatric and cardiac health,” said Keith Creel, CPKC President and CEO. “We’re proud to leave this legacy making a difference for the patients that need it the most. Thank you to everyone, from the amazing players to the volunteers to the thousands of passionate fans, who helped make this year’s tournament a resounding success. All of us at CPKC are honored to make a difference in the communities where we live, work and operate.

“Brooke Henderson delivered a spectacular performance over the last few days, adding another victory at home here in Canada,” Creel added. “Congratulations to Brooke on her incredible win which left an entire nation cheering this weekend. Thank you to the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area community for hosting us, for turning out in big numbers to cheer on our Ontario champion, and for making this such a successful tournament.”

The tournament’s charitable impact was driven by CPKC Has Heart, the company’s community programme supporting heart health initiatives across North America. Contributions included CPKC Birdies for Heart, with the firm pledging donations for every birdie made by members of Mississaugua Golf and Country Club ahead of the championship, and $5,000 for each birdie scored on the 11th hole during tournament play. The company also matched donations given during an online MacKids fundraising drive this summer.

Since becoming title sponsor in 2014, CPKC has helped raise more than $27 million for children’s heart health through the Women’s Open. The growing legacy has become one of the championship’s defining features, alongside its international golf reputation.

For Henderson, Sunday’s victory not only reaffirmed her standing as the country’s most successful golfer but also gave home fans another chance to celebrate a Canadian champion on the LPGA Tour. With strong attendance, significant fundraising and a homegrown winner, the 2025 edition of the CPKC Women’s Open has secured its place as a landmark event in both Canadian sport and healthcare fundraising.
