AccessBank has launched the fourth round of its “Access2Success” programme, designed to improve business and management skills among women entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan, while supporting greater financial inclusion. The bank is running the initiative in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

For this year’s cohort, almost 300 women applied, with 50 entrepreneurs selected according to the programme’s criteria. Those chosen will take part in training on areas including business management, leadership, sales strategies, marketing communications and legal compliance. Sessions are led by experienced local specialists with backgrounds across these fields.

According to AccessBank, the scheme aims to help women strengthen their presence in the business landscape, build sustainable companies and advance female leadership in the local business community. The programme is positioned as contributing to wider socio-economic development by expanding women’s economic participation.

“For over 23 years, AccessBank has supported the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, with a particular focus on promoting entrepreneurship among women. Today, approximately 20% of our business portfolio consists of women-led businesses. The launch of the fourth edition of the Access2Success program reflects our continued commitment to this strategic priority. The program not only helps women entrepreneurs enhance their skills and knowledge but also strengthens their active participation in business and their economic contribution,” said Renat Gumbatov, Member of the Management Board and Chief Business Officer at AccessBank.

EBRD leaders highlighted the importance of tailored advisory services alongside financing support. “Supporting MSMEs is a core EBRD priority and we achieve this by combining financial solutions with tailored advice and training to help businesses grow. Our Advice for Small Businesses programme plays a vital role, offering consulting and mentoring to boost competitiveness and innovation. We are particularly proud of empowering women entrepreneurs through our Women in Business initiative, which provides access to finance, skills and networks. Today’s training series with AccessBank reflects this commitment. We are deeply grateful to the European Union for supporting and financing these efforts”, said Mikhail Grechikho, Associate Director, FI Business Leader for Caucasus/EBRD.

Access2Success first launched in 2022. Since then, over 160 women entrepreneurs from sectors such as consulting, tourism, education and healthcare have completed the six-week programme, gaining hands-on training in management, sales and marketing, alongside personal and professional development.
