Maserati has made a strategic appointment in its leadership roles. In a first in its history, the Corse Motorsport activities division will be headed by a female CEO, Maria Conti starting October 1, 2024.
She was the company’s chief communication officer. She will now report directly to Maserati CEO Davide Grasso, and operationally to Jean-Marc Finot, senior vice president of Stellantis Motorsport.
With her strong background in premium and luxury brands, Ms. Conti, currently on maternity leave, has been well-prepared for her role as Maserati’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Once she returns, she will join Maserati Corse, focusing on boosting the motorsport division’s competitiveness. She steps into the role previously held by former CEO Giovanni Sgro.
Mr. Sgro’s two-year stint at the company involved, according to a statement, “bringing Maserati back into its natural environment, the track and directed all operations relating to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and the Fanatec GT2 European Series.”
The former Corse CEO also aided in the development and launch of the exclusive Maserati MCXtrema halo car. “Maria is a member of the Maserati Family,” said Mr. Grasso, in a statement. “I am particularly proud that a woman will now be leading our brand’s activities on the track and bringing her expertise, energy, and enthusiasm to motor racing.”
