Philippines Leads Global Ranking for Women Business Executives

The Philippines has emerged as the world leader in female representation within senior business executive roles, according to a recent survey conducted by Grant Thornton, a renowned UK-based accounting firm. The study, encompassing 28 countries, underscores the remarkable strides made by women in the corporate landscape, with the Philippines securing the top spot by a significant margin.

Amidst the dynamic Southeast Asian business landscape, Thailand also claimed a notable position, ranking third globally for the proportion of women holding senior executive positions. This achievement not only highlights the region’s commitment to gender diversity but also reinforces its growing influence on the global economic stage.

Grant Thornton’s survey, conducted during the fourth quarter of 2023, meticulously examined 4,891 medium-sized companies across Asia, Europe, and America. These companies, comprising a diverse range of industries, provided valuable insights into the representation of women in leadership roles, from CEOs to finance department heads.

The findings reveal a compelling narrative of progress and empowerment, with Filipino women consistently occupying a significant proportion of top executive positions. With a remarkable 43.1% of senior roles held by women, the Philippines has set a precedent for gender equality and inclusivity in corporate governance.

Furthermore, Thailand’s commendable performance, securing the third position globally with 41.0% female representation in senior management, reflects the nation’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive business environment. Malaysia and Indonesia, ranking seventh and tenth respectively, further underscore Southeast Asia’s pivotal role in advancing gender parity in the corporate sphere.
