In a strategic move, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) announces its leadership in the upcoming Canadian Women-only Business Mission to Taiwan and Vietnam. Supported by the Government of Canada through the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy Ecosystem Fund, this initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader mission series, Northeast X Southeast: Advancing Partnerships between Canada and Asia (2023-2025).
This eighth mission aims to unite Canadian women entrepreneurs with businesses in Taiwan and Vietnam, emphasizing gender-inclusive trade, SME support, and nurturing international partnerships. Public conferences featuring esteemed speakers from Canada, Taiwan, and Vietnam will address bilateral and regional trade issues, economic gender inclusion, and SME assistance. Delegates will participate in personalized B2B matchmaking, company pitches, and networking sessions to connect with stakeholders in these vibrant markets.
Taiwan and Vietnam offer many opportunities for Canadian businesses. Taiwan has advanced technology manufacturing, and Vietnam’s economy is growing. Taiwan’s GDP is $1 trillion, Vietnam’s is $571 billion. In 2022, the total trade volume between Canada and Taiwan amounted to $12 billion, while with Vietnam, it reached $13.8 billion. Vietnam’s inclusion in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) makes it more attractive to Canadian businesses.
Applications for the mission open on March 11, 2024. Supported by the Canadian government through Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada, this initiative underscores a commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s economic empowerment globally. By facilitating connections for women entrepreneurs in Taiwan and Vietnam, the mission aims to promote inclusive economic growth, advance gender equality, and strengthen international trade relations.
Canadian women entrepreneurs are encouraged to seize this opportunity to broaden their horizons, establish new partnerships, and contribute to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable global economy. For further information and registration, visit APF Canada website.
